This assignment begins when you find your first mineral on any uncharted world.
[edit] Finding the Minerals
There are four categories of valuable mineral deposits that you need to survey in order to complete this assignment:
- Light metals (20 needed; 34 to be found)
- Rare earths (20 needed; 36 to be found)
- Heavy metals (20 needed; 34 to be found)
- Gas deposits (6 needed; 10 to be found)
To complete this assignment, you need to find a total of 66 minerals. There are an extensive 114 available. None of the categories besides 'Gas deposits' can be found purely by surveying.
The following lists contain every location of every mineral to be found, and whether they are found by surveying (Survey) from space or by surveying on a planet (Land). Survey locations are placed first, as these are generally easiest to access. The lists are by mineral category. Also, for your convenience, minerals that are in the same cluster are listed next to each other. Some locations have (x2) by them (Land-only); this means that two of that mineral category can be found there.
